I'm curious to know if anyone who is presently in the states if they can access their Shaw Direct account on line through their computer.I've tried several times and can't get into my account. I don't know if this is one thing they are doing to stop access or not. I did get a window that said "they are experiencing technical difficulties, please try again". This was Oct 30 at 9:00AM Alberta time. I'm wanting to know if anyone else who are trying to communicate are also having problems or maybe they are indeed having some temporary problems.Toban

Hey fellow Canucks :I'm a total noob when it comes to RV'ing and one of the things I'm starting to look into is how to do the satellite TV thing when we're in the States ?Do you take your Shaw/Bell Satellite with you ?What about the tuner/PVR ?How do you get channels down in the U.S.? Do you buy a package...pay as you go ? or do you get some sort of add on to the CDN Express VU package ?Thanks for your help..again total noobie here.

It no longer works more than about 100 miles south of the Canadian Border, period!! I take my Shaw Direct boxes from home, hook them up to my Park Model permanently mounted Shaw Satellite Dish and we are good to go... oh.. and do NOT forget the remote!! :) :)

As someone new to satellite TV, I would search the internet for forums dealing with the Shaw system- it will be confusing at first with different viewpoints etc, but eventually you will learn enough to make sense of it- there is a definite learning curve. You will also have to learn how to set up a dish to get a signal- this also takes practice- a good meter helps but there is also a learning curve there too for the good ones.You will have to get a system at home- set up by a Shaw tech and then take that system with you when you travel- don't mention that you will be traveling with it. Times have changed. It used to be easy to get a second dish but not now. Shaw used to be real helpful- but not any more- you will have to learn to do it yourself- especially if out of Canada. Good luck. Most RVers have learned how to set up these dishes and are very helpful- if in a park down south- just look for a Shaw dish and ask. Good luck

Many are sharing subs which i doubt Shaw approves of.

For eg this post from a forum in Southern mexico:

I'm looking for someone that I can share their subscription with. The person that I was hooked up with has dropped his Shaw subscription.
My only preference is to have the west coast feed from Shaw. Of course I will pay my fair share. Please PM me.

Just of interest we are sitting in Portland Oregon and still are getting all of HD channels, it will be interesting to see how far the footprint of the new satellite extends. We also have the new LNB and receiver.

Miracle on W 8th St, Yuma! I had a lot of concern about getting SD service this winter as last yr I had to call to refresh even after having used the receiver just a few days earlier at home.
This yr we got to our concrete pad and the sun had taken all but one of the black marks I put on the concrete to mark the position of the tripod legs.
Placed the tripod as best I could guess, hooked everything up, turned on TV and Essentials 600 receiver. Had immediate great picture....checked the signal, 85!

Wow, what a fluke! Went and bought a Powerball ticket..luck ended there.
