Not much further is Palo Duro which is the premier Texas SP (IMO) in that area of TX, lots pf pull thru sites there. We have been thru Caprock but we camped at Copper Breaks. Caprock looked to be better. Copper Break cg was a bare ground cg on a lake. But it's a barren lake. till not bad tho. There isn't much to be found off US 287, not even many commercial cg so your choices are limited.
One thing about Caprock, you cannot drive all the way in with a long vehicle, your Class A or a truck towing for example. The CG is accessible tho.
