Try Ho Hum, just a bit further east and you won't have to cross US 98. If you have kids stay at Carrabelle Beach.

HoHum is nothing more than a gravel lot with a very narrow beach and no swimming. If you're not in the first row you might as well be anywhere. We spent 2 weeks there in the spring and it seemed lake a month. It's pretty remote.

We loved Carrabelle Beach where we stayed for a month last February. I can't think of one single negative about the park - it's lovely. It's a 10+++. We looked at Ho Hum...no thanks. As mentioned previously, just a parking lot.

Stayed at both in both the old and new state for each. They are 2 totally camping experiences and each great for this intent. I agree kids would be better at Carrabelle Beach, there is road to cross for the beach but there is a pretty nice beach.
