Carson City

Try 5 miles west of Reno from the 395 on I-80. There is a large RV park by the Cabela's. Large spaces, shuttle to the casino and Cabela's right out of the park. Been there twice, but the name escapes me right now.

Not that is not real good news!

OK, I am the OP so guess I can kinda change this a little.

Plans were - until a couple of hours ago! :-) - to leave Likely on the 25th and be in Lee Vining on the 27th. Which, of course, meant the overnight in the Reno / Carson City area. This is not sounding real good now.

How would it be to just be driving thru? Have not driven thru there in about 3 years and think the roads have improved but not sure.

Are there any viable alternate routes? I don't see many options.

How would it be if arriving on the 29th (I would have to change some reservations but would probably be ok at this point).

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.

Street vibes is not just a Reno event. Carson City is full also during Street vibe.

Ooops ..... called Grand Sierra and the have "Street Vibrations" 9/14 - 9/28. Their version of Sturgis the first week of August. The night we would be there was 9/26. Darn; looks like a nice place.

Now I have to look again as Silver City sounds very familiar. I just don't want to be back at the place we were.

On edit ...... reading Reviews and people talk about elec issues at Silver City and I remember the first site they put us in had not electrical box. None. Zero. Nada. And they could not figure out why we wanted to be moved!

Carson Valley was very tight and we also now remember we saw a lady bathing her baby in diapers in the hot tub. When we addressed it at the office they were indifferent.

Guess we can't be fussy for one night but, I mean, geez.

Stayed at Carson Valley last year and swore never again....too tight and at the time I had a 30' class A...

Moved to Silver City and really enjoyed it..Right on hwy but noise not bad......This would be my choice for an overnight....

We stayed at the Carson Valley Inn one time; swore we would never do it again. It was so tight and the pull thru - even though we told them we were only to be overnight - was not long enuf so we had to unhook and all. And the roads were narrow so in and out of the site was no picnic either.

I had heard of the Comstock place but can't get real excited about that either.

Here is the deal. We are going from Likely to Lee Vining - some 290 miles and do not want to do it in one day based on the roads being driven, cities, etc.

So how we break it up is not a big deal; just so we have a break overnight.

Now considering Reno area and see Grand Sierra RV tied in with the casino. Any of you have thoughts along that line or I could start a thread and ask about it. RVPark Reviews says it looks good to me but have not really dug into it yet in detail. Right now it sure seems like the best bet.

Dick .... we leave 8/1 and back 10/10. Taking our time and wandering up to OR Coast arriving third week in August after time in Sisters, Silverton, etc and up to Mt. St. Helens. About a month in Cannon Beach, Newport and Bandon. Then back and down the 395 and home to Tucson. Most places we have been but some new ones.

May be back in Indio end of the year. Maybe for a month.

For just an overnite and easy in and out you would be better to go to Silver City rv just south of Carson. http://www.silvercityrvresort.com

I'd say Carson Valley Inn also but they have a limited number of longer pull thru sites so be sure to ask if booking, also if you want 50 amp service. I love their indoor pool as well as the great bargain priced, good food inside.

We will be looking for an overnight near Carson City so would want an easy in and out pull thru at least 55 feet long. Suggestions appreciated.

This Dick Garcia from Chico Ca. We also snowbird in El Mirage AZ and just got back after a 4 month stay. I would also recommend the Carson Valley Inn (Casino and RV park). I have stayed at the RV Park in the past. RV park is right next to the Casino and they have good food. Where are you headed on this RV outing? We will be up in Coos Bay Oregon in July and then on to Spokane WA. for a few weeks. Be well and safe.

We have stayed at the Carson Valley Inn. It also has a casino as part of the complex (RV park, Hotel, etc.). Good food too.
