CG Recommendation Within 2 hrs NOVA

My wife and I thought we had our summer camping week destination figured out. However, this past weekend we actually had an opportunity to visit the intended destination, and it's a definite no go. Now, we're stumped about where we should go. We're looking for a family campground within three hours (max) of Fredericksburg, VA. We will be camping with a 2.5 yr old, so we prefer a campground that has amenities and activities to keep him busy. We also need a location with WE&S, and we would prefer some trees and shade. We've done the Jellystones, and we were thinking about Drummer Boy, but research indicates that the CG isn't what it once was. Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice family campground within 3 hrs of Fredericksburg, VA?
  • Actually, in NOVA - Bull Run Regional Park was beautiful and we had full hookups.
  • Ramblin' Pines in Woodbine, MD might be OK. I'd get bored being there a week, I think, though.

    John,

    Northern Virginia = NOVA

Couple of good spots to Camp are Rocky Gap SP near Cumberland, MD,
Williamsburg, VA and of course anywhere you can find a space over by the Ocean in MD, DE, or VA.

John, I'm working on the Idaho Itinerary -- looks like I might need a whole Summer or Fall -- lot to see in your Great State.

    BOL,

  • A three hour radius from FredVegas yields many, many choices. Here are a few that may meet your criteria:

    Williamsburg--Heritage campground
    Va Bch---Holiday Travel Park
    Charlottesville-ish--Misty Mountain
    Luray--KOA (formerly Country Waye)
    Gettysburg--Gettysburg Campground.
    Harper's Ferry--KOA

That's just for starters. There are probably over a 100 if you looked hard enough. Good luck.
  • How about Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville?
Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in Natural Bridge Station? (lots of activities for children)
