I don't mind a small visitor fee, but the fact that it is now $8-$10/person is absurd. Many times we like to invite friends or family for dinner or a campfire for a couple hours. They aren't using the pool or attending any of the kid activities. So if I invite my brother's family for a couple hours, that would be visitor fees for five people, so it just isn't worth it. Therefore the CG gets no extra money from us.
What really irritates me is the CGs that charge one fee per night, but it only covers 2 adults, and all others staying on the site are $10 more per night. Again, if the per night fee was low, and you have to add more for each kid staying, I wouldn't have any issue with that. But when you are already charging $60+ a night for a site, and then that only includes 2 adults, that is way overpriced.
Now that my kids are older and don't always go with us, we have spent a lot of money paying for campground sites at which we can't take advantage of all the kid activities. I'd be all for lowering the fee for 2 adults and make people pay additional for kids.
