Charlotte North Carolina

Looking for a SP near Charlotte while visiting my son and his family. By near I mean about a 1 hr drive. Never camped in the area before but have visited the area, somewhat familiar with what's around there. Thanks for any help you all can provide.
  • March 2017 we stayed at Andrew Jackson State Park (South Carolina), just South of Charlotte. It was an absolutely - fantastic - wonderful - great - beautiful - fabulous - campground. All the spots are asphalt, (although hilly, so bring something, and plenty of it, to level your rig). But absolutely a marvelous campground! We were there for a week and visited family who recently moved to Matthews (Charlotte) NC.
  • Southwest of Charlotte off I85 about 45 miles.

  • I would look at Kings Mountain State Park. just down I-85 from Charlotte. A very nice park. Has water, and electric. Has a dump station as well.
  • Just to REALLY wet your appetite, here's some photos from Andrew Jackson State Park (SC), March 2017.

    Here's our campsite (the Outback):

Here's the view of the campsite looking out the back:

Here's a slightly different angle from the back. The tent belonged to the next campsite over:

Here's the view of our campsite from across the lake. We are the white trailer to the left in the photo:

    We made new friends:

    Now.... go book a reservation!
