Cheyenne State Park, Colorado Springs,CO

Is there enough in this park to do that a 7 day stay would be enjoyable? Including visiting attraction in Colorado Springs. And would also like to know what sites are great for a 36Ft. 5th wheel with great views. Dh and I are going to do some time at RMNP and then head down to This state park and stay. We want a relaxing vacation and not long drives here there and everywhere since it will take 2 days to get out there. We have 2 weeks and we figured we would do Grand Tetons and Yellowstone another trip. Every trip we have taken out west seems to be so rushed that we haven't even ever had a campfire out there! Our problem we try to see so much in a small time frame that we miss out on just enjoying. Think we will go first 2 weeks in September. Im sure the weather will still be nice. Thanks, Tara

    Need a little more direction.

    When we are picking locations to enjoy in Colorado we generally rank;

    Buena Vista and the Collegiate's or Ouray and the San Juan's at the top of MY LiST; easy to get to - lots to do - not too crowded - have Water - Have Aspen - if you wait a week or two it will have Golden Aspen - Great trails for 4x4ing and fly fishing - wild and beautiful - because of the time of year and the elevation cool nights and Beautiful days.

    All of Colorado's State Parks are good but........ if you want to just enjoy the Wild and Beautiful Colorado get into the mountains and look into these two areas, find a spot and just go and explore - some of the most beautiful areas in all the USA.

    JMHO,
  • We stayed in site 3 in the Raptor Glen loop with a 35 foot fifth wheel. It is a large pull through site with a beautiful view and full hookups. We only spent two nights because we wanted to spend more time in Rocky Mountain National Park. We went to Garden of the Gods the afternoon we arrived and attempted to drive to the top of Pikes Peak the next day but the road was closed near the top because of high winds and snow. There is a lot more to see and do in the area to keep you busy. We really enjoyed staying in the state park.
  • If you are in to mountain biking and hiking then yes you can keep busy for a week. There is lots to do in and around Colorado Springs too so you shouldn't be bored at all. We were there in mid September a few years back and got stuck in an ice storm! Could not move for 2 days... but absolutely beautiful. Yes your rig will fit fine, huge pretty sites.
  • Hi I have not been to this park however we was in the area close at Mountaindale rv resort in Colorado Springs. We stayed in a cabin at the time we did not have our trailer. Nice park, lots of deer, turkeys walking thru camp.
    We did go to Garden of the Gods park, very cool place, Mantibu Springs nearby, went to Pike's Peak, lots of stuff to do.

    Have fun.
