Christmas in Vegas

We want to spend at least a week in Vegas at Christmas time. We want to be able to walk from the park to Casinos, etc. We don't want to be sandwiched in someplace either. Will the RV parks be crowded at this time of year. Or is there an option of staying a little remote with shuttle service between park and Vegas?

+1 for Sam's Town. Full size tour bus (free) will take you to the strip or downtown.
  • I lived in Vegas for 25 years and was in the casino industry. Christmas is a very popular time to visit Vegas. There are many non-Christian's that have the holiday off and chose to enjoy the town in mild weather.

Circus Cicus is a dive. Avoid it at all costs. Sam's Town is much nicer and the park is quite nice. But it is on the Boulder Hoghway strip, so only walking distance to the Sam's Town casino. Either a shuttle, public transportation or drive a few miles to the Las Vegas Strip and downtown.
  • Circus Circus is the only place I know of. We stayed there this summer, and I can tell you this: NEVER AGAIN.
The electricity goes off without any reason at all in the entire RV park. PS: The electricity is on in the casino.
It apparently happens all the time because we read about it in Yelp, thinking it was a one time event. Nope, happened while we were there too.
Office doesn't open 10am, no one to see if there is a problem, and there is always a problem. Garbage dumpsters overflowing, messy bathhouses.
    never again for us.
  • Oasis is nowhere near any casinos. The only one I can think of is Sam's Town, on Boulder Highway, now operated by KOA. I would NEVER recommend a KOA but you want to walk to the casino. They have back in and pull thru sites, don't know what the rates are but they probably doubled or tripled them when they took over. Circus Circus may still be operating a few sites next to their hotel/casino, it's just a big asphalt parking lot. Sam's Town used to have a shuttle that would take you to the strip, KOA probably stopped that but call and find out.

We did it a few years back and were surprised how many people spend time in Vegas for Christmas - Crazy - Stayed in the Oasis - caught a couple of shows - Hilo'd into GC - actually had a ball - drove back through Utah and enjoyed almost empty National Parks. Arriving back in Denver to Sunny cool weather.
