Looking for a campground in Maine for next summer. Something with a lake or body of water. Thanks Erica

Paradise Park Resort in Old Orchard Beach and Blackwoods in Acadia NP are both nice. Blackwoods has no hookups though. Generators are allowed, and there are water spigots here and there.

Thousand Trails near Ogunquithttps://www.thousandtrails.com/maine/moody-beach-rv-campground/We were allowed. 1 night stay (touring the area and just passing through) ,. I would look at it esp if you want longer term camping. It wasn't on the water but near.

Narrows Too in Trenton (Bar Harbor) Maine.It has large full service Ocean Front sites. The sites look out on Frenchman Bay so more of a tidal flats view but still very nice and still salt water. We were just there this past weekend and it is a really nice place. The sites are wooded, on the sides, and private between RV's, flat and easy in and out and very large. We have stayed at KOA Oceanside before. The sites are nice there but more wide open and the ocean front sites do not have sewer service for the most part.Mount Desert Island, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are all so beautiful. Lots to do and see. Plan at least a week. Here's a tip about Narrows Too. The premium, non-ocean front sites are about $45.00 per night cheaper and are right across the street from the ocean front sites. (Yellow sites on the campground map) Still full service, still wooded and private. You can still see, smell and hear the ocean from the cheaper sites and then spend the money you save on some of the delicious sea food that's for sale everywhere down there.The best weather is normally end of July and first two weeks of August but remember it is the New England coast so the weather has a mind of its own. The only thing the weatherman in Maine guarantees is that it's going to get dark at night!

Bar Harbor KOA Oceanside. Pricey but the phenomenal sunsets make it worth it.Poland Springs Campground, Poland Springs. Nice, more rustic campground on a great lake for paddling.

Oh there you've done it now. I started going to Freeport back in the early 80's, then a little further north eventually ending up in Bar Harbor/Acadia NP. We go every year but I am now reluctant to recommend it to anyone because it keeps getting busier and busier. Beautiful place.

Why would I not want to drive to Maine?

You do want to go to Maine-it's well worth it. There's so much to see and do, the people are great, the food is great, and there's tons of nice places to stay.

Bayleys RV Resort in Scarboro is pretty hard to beat Full service with lots of on site activities and very short drive to Old Orchard Beach.

Our favorite on the Maine coast is Lobster Buoy Campsites just south of Rockland. This is a beautiful, low-key place that some might find a little too quiet, but that's we enjoy it so. We love the scenery, the smell of the ocean, and the hospitality.

The Owls Head Transportation Museum is nearby, but the crowning attraction is the ability to walk to Waterman's Beach Lobster for what is absolutely the best lobster roll in New England!

Sorry, but -1 for Oceanside KOA. We stayed there for a week at the end of June. Not impressed, this was our first (and probably last) KOA

1. For the sake of the OP, what didn't you like about it? That may help the OP decide whether or not to stay there.
2. Don't condemn all KOAs based on one. See #1.

And please, people, do not turn this into yet another KOA bashing thread.

Sorry, but -1 for Oceanside KOA. We stayed there for a week at the end of June. Not impressed, this was our first (and probably last) KOA.
