Not sure I understand that comment but if you think Texans are not friendly or inviting I think you are mistaken. Sure, there are cranky ones but that is the exception.
I sometimes think that when people are unwelcoming to visitors it is other visitors who do the complaining about the crowds that they are a part of.
I believe he was commenting about the heat in central Texas in the summer, not the friendliness of Texans. A joke that clearly sailed over your head?
