Living and working in another tourism driven area (Cape Cod), I can relate. Clogged roads, lines at the popular venues and restaurants, staying home on weekends etc. I drive the length of the Cape to get to work at the airport where we give sightseeing flights to tourists all summer. On nice weekend days, the planes are fully booked and the lobby is hectic. Although it's a great inconvenience, the season is really only 10 weeks long, and we know we need to make the year's revenue in that time. We all rejoice when Labor Day rolls around, but by spring we're ready to go again, hoping for weather that will lead to a good tourist season.
I couldn't see Cape Cod Times printing an article such as this. We even have something called the "Cape Cod Weekend Forecast". The local TV stations know that if they forecast lousy weekend weather, especially for one of the big 3, the CC Chamber of Commerce will be on the phone with the station owner complaining.
Maybe they're making too much money taxing the weed.
