What sort of rig/setup do you have? Answers may vary depending on what you have, ie, motor home versus a trailer versus a fiver. That information would help us narrow down what sort of locales you might find amenable.
Regarding Durango area and what you're looking for, Lightner Creek Campground may fit your needs more so than some of the other CG/Resorts in the Durango area. A bit isolated, a bit of privacy, yet still close to town and amenities. H E R E is their website.
South Fork/Del Norte/Monte Vista area is also quite popular and has some of the amenities that may interest you, and a good location for exploring for a month. The San Luis Valley area has many surprises to explore, and it's easy to get over to Durango/Cortez/Mesa Verde NP area from there. Also close proximity to northern New Mexico for additional exploring. Consider the Cumbres and Toltec train trip between Antonito and Chama NM; it's an experience of a lifetime with scenery that simply has to be experienced, as it can't be adequately described.
