We spend a couple of months, every other summer, in the Ouray, Montrose and Grand Junction areas. The KOA in Montrose is very nice, well run and reasonable in price. Last time we spent a month there it was $450 plus electric. In Ouray, the KOA, just north of town is our first choice, but they don't have a monthly rate so we pay the daily rate. Cost approximately $1,000 a month for FHUs. Both are great places to run day trips out of, as we normally tow our Jeep so that we can play in the surrounding mountains.
Grand Junction can be a bit hot during the days, in summer, but tends to cool off at night. A week to ten days is about the maximum for our GJ stays.
On one of our last trips to Colorado we did the following:
Departed Florida about June 1. Took a week to get to Colorado Springs.
Spent a week in the Springs (my wife grew up here and in Woodland Park) Garden of the Gods RV Park
To Montrose for a month at the KOA
To Grand Junction for a week
To Ouray KOA for a month
Started home to Florida, by way of Torrey Utah for a week ( Capital Reef NP)
Then a week back to Florida.
