I agree with the Durango to Ridgway State Park. It is a beautiful ride, although a bit edgy with the elevation changes and curves. We did it in 2011 and glad we did. Ridgway has some nice short hiking trails. If in this area be sure to check out Telluride, it's a beautiful little ski & old time mining town.
Rocky Mtn. Nat'l Park is a beautiful park. Lots to see and do. Excellent views and decent campgrounds. There are hiking trails too. I backpacked there back in the 70's and you can go long or short.
Mesa Verde in SW Colorado is an interesting trip. The cliff dwellings and history are very nice and it's a totally differnt environment than Rocky Mtn. Nat'l Park.
