Colter Bay RV Park - Tetons

Anyone been there and know if their 45' max lengths listed on recreation.net are hard and fast? Looking at the pics, the ones listed with that length look longer.

I ask because our fifth wheel is 36' long and Dodge Ram truck has 8' bed, thus, to hitch its 52'.

Getting a site there is an ordeal, and I've tried numerous days, but my timing hasn't been good, thus I keep striking out.

Other locations that could accomodate us would be appreciated.

Thanks

Edit - I was finally successful in reserving a site...its listed at 45', which is their max listed on any site.
  • They are pretty long sites. I had my 35ft TT and 20 ft Excursion in one as well as my cousins crew cab long bed at an angle behind my trailer. Lots of 40+ foot RVs were there.

Now Fishing Bridge (Yellowstone) was another story. There 45ft site (that I verified after parking the trailer) didn’t for my 35ft trailer.

You’ll be fine at Colter Bay.
  • We stayed there with a 40' 5th wheel had to situated just right for awning, power and sewer to work. If you have an extension cord for your trailer bring it.
  • When we were there in 2016, we had a long bed crew cab pulling a 38' fiver and had no problems in our site. I think I actually called to make reservations instead of doing it online and I made reservations nearly a year in advance
  • Thanks everyone for your replies! The site we got sure looks long enough, and good to know some of ya have had no troubles. I wish they'd be more detailed in their info...your responses have proven what I suspected...45' is a generic max they just slap on each site. Classic govt huh? If I owned it, or likely many of you, it would actually be accurate and include height clearance info.

Get this...I saw some info that said for something like mid-2023 reservations, they will be able to be made like 13 months in advance. I can't find the info now...maybe it was accidentally posted and then taken down...but who in the flip can plan that far out? And if you don't, will you ever be able to get at site if they implement it?

Just for info.....Colter Bay Forest service park( no book ups) have spaces that would work. I easily fit into a pull through site with a 40' mh with toad. Very nice park too!

Thanks! I hadn't looked closely enough at that....thought it was all tents.

FWIW, I booked Yellowstone 12 months in advance and I think the Tetons were maybe 9 months? (This was 2017). I don’t like booking that far out, but we already know our future trip at that point, and I put in for my vacation time early.
Gone are the days of just pulling in somewhere and getting a spot.
