Corpus Christi / Port Aransas Must See & Do

So, from Little Rock, I'll be taking 167 south to 165 at Alexandra, La then on to Lake Charles, La on I-10. Any recommended campgrounds or things to see our our slow trip to Corpus especially in La?

North of rockport not to be missed

In the freshwater and brackish marshes of Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, a distinct and wild trumpeting call rings across the marsh. It is the whooping crane, Grus americana, the rarest crane species and one of the rarest birds in North America. All of the whooping cranes alive today, both wild and captive, are descendants of the last 15 remaining cranes that were found wintering at the Aransas Refuge in 1941.

It was the Corpus city water system that was contaminated by an accidental backflow of chemicals. The system has been flushed, and the all clear has been given for the entire city. It did not affect areas outside the city.

Venetian Hot Plate, Trout Street Grill, Virginia's on the Bay, Crazy Cajun are some of our favorite places to eat in Port A. There are more.
Snoopy's has the best fried shrimp right off the causeway coming on to the island from Corpus Christi.

I will suggest Moby Dick's as a fun place to eat.
It looks very touristy/cheesy from the outside, but we gave it a shot.
The food was pretty good - my wife ate crawdads for the first time in her life!
But the atmosphere and entertainment were a hoot!
They had a Karaoke night, and several senior citizens got up to sing (one at a time). And some of them were professional-quality singers. We were treated to Elvis, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin songs. We loved it!

For seafood in Port Aransas--Beach & Street Grill has always been great. Other suggestions for birding, fishing, etc. by others are great.

We have reservations on Port Aransas. I sure appreciate the suggestions! Please keep 'em coming if you have a mind to.

I believe by March they will have the situation cleared up. The potable water contamination is limited to the city of Corpus Christi and now only the center of the city, not the outer edges according to news reports. Port Aransas is not effected at all, I would think, nor the aquarium and the Lexington. Certainly not Padre Island.
