Crater Lake

In 2016 we stayed at Klamath Falls KOA, sites were close but the showers were very nice. Nice staff.

diamond lake rv park is great plus you get the lake there and minutes to the national park

Been to Diamond Lake/Crater Lake many times.
Diamond Lake CG would be tough to impossible to navigate in some areas.
Broken Arrow would be real easy. Most sites are large and would accommodate a 35' 5er easily.
Never stayed at the RV park but have rode our bikes through it. 35' would be no issue there either. But you'll be sardine canned in.
Diamond Lake is really pretty in the summer. Lots of outdoor things to do. There's an 11-12 mile paved bike path that circles the lake if you like to ride bikes.
Crater Lake is only a few mins away. If you're in good shape physically I'd suggest doing the boat tour. There's some really interesting sites around the lake that you can't see from just driving the road.

Exactly. Since you are at water's edge, might as well go for a swim. Watching the shoreline taper away and crystal clear water change color is an awesome experience.

Since it's a long way from Tx, if we flew to Or or Ca and rented car. Is there a good selection of hotels/motels in the Crater Lake area ? My Mom & Dad were married in Medford during WWII and she stayed in the area for the duration. I have a bunch of Photos of Mom & several of her GI bride friends picnicking at Crater Lake and would really like to see the area.

Medford would have the largest choice and is about 90-100 miles from Crater Lake. Kalamath Falls would be 50 miles and the motel selection a little less. Chiloquin has new motel at the casino and surprisingly there food is good. https://klamoyacasino.com/ maybe 35 miles to CL. One other choice would to head into Canyonville and stay at the casino there. https://www.sevenfeathers.com/about 105 miles.

You can fly into Medford but I think you have to go into Eugene for some airlines, and take a puddle jumper. It seems like there was on of the CA cities you could also catch a flight to Medford. I know Alaska Airlines flies into Medford from Portland and maybe Southwest.

If you go the fly route stay at the Crater Lake Lodge. It is neat place with some good history. Food is kinda overpriced but generally good.

Really no matter where you stay has some good scenery on the drive.

EDIT: Forgot to mention Roseburg for motels. 100-110 miles to CL.

Almost four years ago now, but it was early April and the park campground was under 10 ft of snow.

We stayed at Joseph Stewart State Park on Lost Creek Lake of the Rogue River. Excellent state park.

Very easy drive to Crater Lake, which was open to the rim. Beautiful view on a bright sunny day. Though snow as almost 20 feet deep at the rim. Roads plowed perfectly.

This po' lil' country boy from the piney woods of southwest Arkansas never saw that much snow before. And the lake was amazing also.

Thanks. Oregon is so pretty .When it gets close to a chance to do will do more research. We can fly standby on AA and won't be in any rush .
I have thought about a long summer trip as I have driven from Salem back to Tx . Our Son went to Willamtte Law School. I was pulling a loaded 26ft cargo trailer with a 1/2 ton pickup. That was a long drive. Anyway our problem time wise is my wife's medical and she must see her neurologist pretty frequent. Might go ahead & do the rv trip and figure out where we need to be to fly back.

For sure on snow there. 43 years ago was there at the lodge in mid-August and woke up to 2-3 inches of snow. They were playing Christmas music in the lodge.

That campground was one of the best we stay.Very few like this one.
