Creation Museum and The Ark

Planning a trip to visit the Creation Museum and The Ark in NW Kentucky, so we are looking for a good centrally located campground. The Ark is located near Louisville, KY and the Creation Museum in Pettersburg, KY.

As we plan to spend multiple days and drive from NE Ohio prefer a FHU campground.

Any suggestions?
  • We went to the ARK this past spring, stayed in a C/G called "Whispering Hills" Located in Georgetown KY. about a 20-30 minute ride to the ARK. Nice C/G, but if you stay in the newer "Pull Thru" sites they do NOT allow Campfires, So with that in mind try to get one of the back in sites. It is about 15 min. from the interstate, and not far from a Pilot Fuel, and there is a Camping World near by as well. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!
  • Along with Whispering Hills campground you may want to look at Kentucky Horse Park campground also located near Georgetown/Lexington KY.
  • If you can't find a full hook up park that suits you you might look into Bone Lick State Park, Our daughter and family stayed here while doing both. seems like they said about 30 miles to each. They really liked the park.
  • Thanks for the input. We have a small group and the wagon-master has selected Whispering Hills.
  • Give us a report of what you think about the trip. We are planning on going in the near future.

The Ark is nowhere near Louisville.... it's right off 75 half way between Cincy and Lexington.
  • We enjoyed the Kentucky Horse Park but it does not have full hookups. Just water and electric at the site.
  • We went to the ark and museum last October. We stayed at Whispering Hills and really enjoyed it. Fine folks that run it and was very quiet. The road to the park is narrow but thankfully not long. Be cautious driving in.

Do not try to do the ark and museum in one day. Allow one day for each. You will be in awe at the size of the ark and how it was built in the day.
