Instead of three months down south we take a month of B&B overseas in early Spring. Not the same but it works for us.
Exactly. Three months in southern Spain will run you about 4500 Canadian in rent and no need for travel insurance although I would still get a repatriation policy that gets you home.
We like travelling to our place in Palm Spring and will continue to do so until we hit 60 and retire. Its convenient and only a 4 day drive and we like our community there. However, once we are retired we will switch to Southern Europe to avoid the snow. Lots to explore. Nothing wrong with the US, just time for a change, and the savings in insurance cover the travel to Europe.
