curious!

How many of us are now going on vacation? My Dh and I always wait till the crowds thin alittle. We leave this this week, so ready for a break. Tara
  • On our way to Colorado as we speak. Leave every year after Labor Day seeking cooler temps.
  • As I have explained to DW. We are now retired, ergo don't work. If you don't work you don't get "no stinking vacation" (so my dear old Dad used to say).
But generally we like to travel spring and fall. Leave the summer for the kids who are out of school and need their family time. Weather is generally better and the summer months are for home maintenance and tweaking camping gear, the winter months for tying flys and plotting upcoming trips and research, research, research.
We only make reservations at the most popular parks, and only then when we feel there is no other option as far as getting a spot near where we want. Carry our tablet (with 4G) and have been known to make reservations while on the road.
As with most folks, I suspect, there are exceptions. i.e. this spring/summer. DW wants to spend a week with her sister & family at Gulf Shores first week of June. We'll be in a rented house and camping our way to and fro. Not my idea.
  • Heading to FW at the end of the month. Going with three other couples should be a good time. The food and wine festival will be going on at Epcot. Looking forward to it.

As we speak, DW & I have the new Ecoboost & TT headed up the Oregon Coast. Started out the 31st of Aug and will be out for at least 6 or 7 weeks. Exploring the Florence to Newport area today in a down pour. Headed up thru Washington and eventually over to San Juan Island. Been going over to the Island for the last 8 summers (DD lives there).

  • We have a couple airline seats to warm up early Monday, get The Onion Cart out of storage Tuesday & don't bring it back for winter storage till November. 3000 miles of the SE states with a few bluegrass festivals, the Atlanta Rally & perhaps some punkin chunkin in between.

It has been another good year.
  • We can go anytime but prefer the off season everywhere. Our MH is not fun when it is hot so we go to Death Valley, etc. in the winter. No Lines! Our pick of campsites!
  • Wahoooo....

Been trying to go once a month since we bought this fiver.

With any luck and a few extra bucks maybe we can change our schedule to every 3 or perhaps 2 weeks for the fall\winter\early spring.
We're kind of in the middle of some good short trip opportunities where we live plus it doesn't snow here.
We have a bit of latitude fortunately.
