- tragusa3ExplorerJack and Nina, I have reservations at nearby Devil's Garden for mid June. I'm worried about having no A/C while sleeping at night and have thought about moving to Deadhorse. Do you think we should? I'm thinking desert nights cool down enough and the humidity is low. Any thoughts?

Can anyone offer specific campsite suggestions/recommendations for Deadhorse Ranch SP in Cottonwood, AZ? (Traveling in a 24' motorhome in late March/early April.)
Have to make reservations soon; thanks for any 'site tips'!
We live nearby. DHSP is a nice park. In the upper area the sites are open, with nice views. No shade to speak of and it can be windy that time of year. The lower area has big trees with a number of pull thru's that are clear. I see 40+ footers there all the time. The lower area is a mix of tents on the outside loop and trailers/Fivers and MH's in the rest. It tends to attract families/groups. The upper area is trailers/Fivers and MH's only with a tent area further on. - pigman1ExplorerWe stay there each winter for a week or more... Except this year as DW had to get a new knee. We like the upper areas, but have never had to have a reservation. All RV spots have water and electric with a dump at the entrance to the park. We don't care for the lower areas as they have a lot of overhanging trees that WILL scratch the side of a unit. Try the trout fishing in the river or the ponds. All plants, but a lot of fun. While at DHR, go up to Jerome and have lunch or dinner at the Haunted Hamburger. Hamburgers and desserts to die for.
- JTExplorerThanks for all the replies and suggestions! :)
- badbob1ExplorerSpent 5 days a few years ago and look forward to returning soon. Stayed in the upper loop and just dumped on the way out. Was a great place to visit and think you will find any of the sites will fit your needs.
Have Fun
BadBob - jhladyExplorerJT,
Stayed here in a 24 moho two years ago. Very nice campground with electric only hook ups. They do have a dump station on your way out. I believe we stayed in sight #101 in the upper section. As stated above, the lower section is more vegetated and the upper section is more open which we preferred for star gazing.
Here is a link to the park map in case you didn't find it.

Enjoy! - RGar974417ExplorerCan't give you a site # either, but we were in the lower section with water and electric hookups. We toured Jerome,Tuzigoot and Ft Verde Calvary Post.
- azdryheatExplorerOnly stayed there once - in the upper section (higher elevation). There is a lower, older section with trees but no views to speak of. Upper section is quite barren but the views are very good. We recommend this park.
Make sure you check out the Verde Canyon Railroad nearby: http://verdecanyonrr.com/
