Deer Lodge, Montana

We are looking for a layover place near Deer Lodge and was wondering if it is worth staying a extra to see the area. We will be coming down from Glacier Park. Another place within 25 miles or might be OK too if more to see. Any input will be welcome as we have never been in this park of the US.

    We enjoyed visiting the Old Montana Prison and Grant-Kohrs Ranch Historic Site near Deer Lodge.

    If you are headed South on I-15, Bannock State Park is about 113 miles South of Deer Lodge.


    We love Bannock State Park. We were there the day that the park opened after the flood damage. The Governor was there and there were volunteers in period dress, and live music on several porches.
