Having said all of that we are now finally seeing people under 60 come in. Not necessarily all RV'ers. Some are renting to test the waters and some are buying park models.
Our park has always catered to the more active or young at heart folks. We have a very active pool volleyball group and your grandma would not want to play with this group. Lol. They just added a sand volley ball court and a nice RC racetrack. It is great finally seeing some of the younger seniors being able to retire sooner. I think these are some of the reasons we are now seeing more younger people at our park.
Our park is now offering $199.00 monthly rates for first time people. That should also stir up some interest.
I agree with the other responses as to whether or not people are taking a loss when selling their places at a much lower price as when they bought. We are fulltimers and in order to start this lifestyle we sold our beautiful Lake front home for half what it had been appraised for a few years prior. That money was to be part of our retirement. Do we have any regrets? Absolutely not. We made no money on the sale of that home but the memories we have made since then are priceless.
Prayers and best wishes to your parents on this new chapter in their lives and all of the challenges they will be facing.
Wow you got my interest.
I hope they still have that incentive come November 2017.
I turned 55 a week ago and 2 days ago my company gave me a surprise birthday present.
They sent me away on a 20 month paid vacation and called at a termination.
My DW is set to retire June 2017 so winter 2017 will be our first snowbirding season Lord willing.
As youngster's, as my fellow RV'ers seem to want to call us we will be 56 and 57 and enjoying Snowbirding somewhere to escape the dreary northern winters.
Although the termination package was a total shock and very emotionally packed it is beginning to sink in how lucky I am.:D
Enjoy your winter's south.
I'm sure November 2017 will come quick.
