Eight years ago I stopped RVing to the RGV and purchased a mobile home. At first we drove down, now we fly. It can get expensive as you pay costs on a year round basis and need a "valley car" to boot.
I have a friend who is my age and his idea of getting away for the winter is to fly to a resort or city for a couple of weeks. His winter get away is probably the same cost as mine if you average everything over a 10 year period.
At present I am sitting in my home office looking out the window at the 6 inches of snow that arrived last night. I leave for the RGV right after Xmas........ can't wait.
