Yet most RV Parks seem to be stuck in a time warp formed more by Lawrence Welk than by Star Trek (remember it premiered in Sept 1968)

The RV Parks in my opinion need to update, get younger in attitude and come into the 21st century in terms of infrastructure and amenities.

As for the RGV, where I am at the moment (Brownsville) This is the ONLY place I have been charged extra for electricity for a weeks stay. In fact these are the ONLY parks that I have been to West of Louisiana (and I have stayed in all of those states)that does this.

From what I see here the competition for RV's among the parks is fierce and some good deals are available. This is an indication that numbers are down.

Welcome to the forum. You have hit the question dead on. We have been fulltiming for 11 years and have a lot in Mission. We first came down 29 years ago, a year after my in-laws purchased a lot. Due to their advancing age we opted to spend our winters here as long as they return. The residents have not supported any new activities and have over estimated the worth of older park models and lots to newer buyers, by thousands of dollars. Canadian snowbirds have been some of the prime buyers of available lots until the Canadian $ tanked and not feeling welcome by the old timers. So as the old timers die off, their heirs, do nothing with the lots and park models, which are eventually drug off the lot after sitting unused for several seasons. Our park has an open country jam session which is awful, we have been attending Rock & Roll jams in other parks, I know it's a matter of taste, but all and all, "Your Cheatin' Heart" can be sung only so many ways, but please do it on key.
