LOL! We were told (as teens) to not expect Social Security - so setting up a good savings/retirement plan was critical. Neither Ed nor I have pensions, so our stool is one-and-a-half legged because we DO get SS (but Lord knows it's not enough to live on since we also have to pay our health insurance); but good money management and "living beneath our means" has left us a comfortable retirement. We've really pounded this into our kids' heads, too - every one of them got the book "The Millionaire Next Door" when they graduated from high school.
So now we have a little condo overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway in FL, and the Great Migration of Boats headed south is in full swing...LOL!!
