Dinosaur National Park

We are going to be camped out in Vernal Utah for a few days. We are planning to visit Dinosaur NP. Besides the dig site, I'm looking for some suggestions of scenic roads or other sites that are acessable with my 26ft Class C. As always suggestions are appreciated.
  • If you don't mind some decent gravel road to reach a dry camping spot, Whiterocks CG in Ashley NF northwest of Vernal is pleasant.
  • I should know this with all the research I do on various things, but why do they call it a dinosaur National Mounument?
  • Plan on spending some time in the Utah Field House of Natural History in Vernal. Maybe as interesting as the Quarry Exhibit Hall in the monument itself.

If you don't mind a bit of a drive, check out Nine Mile Canyon. Brochure It's a full day loop but lots of interesting Native Rock Art.

Because the area is loaded with dinosaur fossils and when you go to the field house you'll see thousands of fossils still embedded in rock.
  • vernal is a wonderful small town to relax in. fantasy canyon just out of town in the oil fields is worth a couples of hours

Thanks, kind of what I was thinking. Just didn’t know the specifics of it.
