Directv Locals in Yuma, Az

Do you get Phoenix locals on Directv if you use a Phoenix area Zip code??? Chris
  • Different satellites transmit DTV SD and HD and the spot beams are not the same. I can get SF HD locals up to the OR border and SF SD locals up to the WA border.

Direct TV broadcasts in SD and HD for the Phoenix locales. So the satellite antenna will not matter.
The spot beam map for Phoenix, shows you can get it all the way to San Diego.
The signal gets weaker as you travel away from the center of the spot beam. So the type of antenna which includes it's size does matter.

The spot beam map shows significant reduction in signal strength for SD. I'll be in Oceanside just north of SD in two weeks and will see my full array dish picks up the Phoenix locals.
  • Call in and change your service address to a rv park in phoenix.Thats what I did last year in Yuma.

And by the way, putting the ZIP code in the receiver does NOT give you the local channels. You MUST call tech support and state you want to Change your service address and that your mailing address remains the same.

You are then required to give them a good address whether or not you live there is of no concern
  • Doesn't matter what zip code you use...if you mean you put that in the receiver.
  • I got them in El Centro, CA. However it also depends upon the type of antenna and a lot of other transmission variables. SD vs HD may also be a factor.
