Dish Network jusssst north of the U.S. border... ?
Is there any way to use it up there? 5 miles north of the border? And how long can I stay in Canada? And what about my verizon broadband 3G stick for the computer?

John - I would be very surprised if they accept a Canadian address as Canada has their own satellite system.
For $15/month I get Verizon phone service as in talk access in Canada. But everything I've ever found on data is very expensive. Maybe you could buy Canadian equipment. We just use WiFi in Canada.

Yes, I think Verizon would definitely know if I was over the border. They ping you. - There is no magic fence at the border. Just as local channels are typically usable hundreds of miles, it's likely (depending on the transponders you need) you will see the same results. Don't forget that those spot beam antennas are 23,000 miles away and it it impossible to limit signal the way Direct and Dish customer service reps. claim they can do.
Cellular is a completely different story though...
