Gators are very mobile. We had gators routinely stroll through yards in our neighborhood and the nearest steady water source was more than a quarter mile away. After a heavy rain, our neighbor walked out to his back yard and was surprised by a gator resting in a large puddle.
I understand how people in other parts of the country find this strange. Those living in the south accept it as a possible part of daily life.
Just like the black bears in our area of the country. It is not uncommon to see them in our yard or even on rare occasions, climbing on our deck. Always be aware of them and treat them with respect.
People living too sheltered of lives these days with no common sense, thinking this is a for real fantasy world.
