Disney Fort Wilderness cg loop advice

We are thinking about camping at Fort Wilderness for four nights. We would like to stay in a standard full hook up site. Don't want to rent a golf cart and won't have bikes with us. Are there loops that we can stay in that only require a five minute or less walk to the catch the bus? No kids, no pets.
  • Here's a link from FortFriends which will help you decide which loop you like best. http://www.fortfiends.net/_/accomodations/loop-information/site-classifications-r61

There are also YouTube videos that will also help.
  • All loops are pretty much equal. Like posted above you can request, but that does not mean you will get what you asked for, which is why I think they try so hard to make all of them equal. In the middle is nice because you are within walking distance of the main store and the Chip-n-Dale campfire and movie. Also make sure you go to the docks to see the electric light parade. If you time it right you can be on a boat headed toward Magic Kingdom when the fireworks are going off. The same experience people pay big money for by renting a private boat for the event. Also try to go to the Backyard Bar-B-Q. It is behind Crocketts tavern. If you have kids, or are a kid at heart it is really worth the effort. If they tell you they are full, talk to the concierge, they always have some hold back tickets. We were told they were full and spoke with the concierge and get in. There were several empty picnic tables. They way it was explained to me is that the automatic reservations system and even the reservation cast members are only allowed to sell out an event to a certain level, and there are always some holdbacks for concierges to use for guests. We rented a cart from an off property company for half the cost and had a blast. They delivered the cart to the CG and it was waiting on us in the corral with the rest of them. It was nice to just go "looping" in the evening. Also even though the buses are handy you are on their time, so having a cart lets yo be on your schedule.

Download "FW Sites" on your smart phone, it has the site, which type and also a picture. You can request which loop you want in although it is not guaranteed. You do not need a golf cart, easy walk from loop to the but that takes you to the boat or the park bus stop for another bus to the Parks. We stayed 8 nights in our Fifth Wheel. It was really tight getting the FW into the site but the site we had was big enough for the camper, our truck, golf cart, picnic table. FW Sites also gives the measurements of the site. There are also You Tube videos of each type which were fun to look at when we were planning our trip.

Yep, the FW Sites app is very good. We prefer the 600 loop because it is close to the Meadows Trading Post, Chip and Dales campfire, outdoor theater, and Meadows Pool, not to leave out close to Disney transportation. We typically request the 600 loop when making our reservations and have always got our requested loop.

    Have fun!

I agree with everything except for the offsite golf cart rental. Of late Disney will no longer allow offsite rental agencies to deliver the cart to a Ft Wilderness campground. You will have to meet them off premises and take delivery and bring the cart into the Fort on your own. Overall great info here.
  • I have a 40' 5th wheel and I usually try to stay in the 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900 loops. There just seems to be more maneuvering room in those loops to get into the sites. If walking to the bus is an issue, try to ask for a site not far from the loop entrance. You need to watch where the power and cable hookups are. The FW sites app will help with that. The electrical hookup on my 5'er is in the rear, and I've had to change sites to get a rear hook-up. If you have a dog, the 300 loop is close to the dog park.

Enjoy, and have a magical time. Annual pass-holder here, and we go as often as we can.
