Disney Fort Wilderness vacation Discount

Since the mouse and AAA split ways the main discount at the fort is no longer. Last time we were down there we were able to save a significant amount being a AAA member, but apparently that is a thing of the past.

As for the daily pass prices, yes they have gone up but most folks stay for multiple days and the multiple day passes are priced much better.

Ditto on not having to pay about $20 a day for parking and transportation to any of their locations is included. The local RV parks are not cheap.

Discounts at FW are pretty much a thing of the past. Building new loops???? highly unlikely due to land restrictions. There are plans for a Disney Vacation Club timeshare by the old River Country section utilizing the shore and into the water. Don't recall seeing any RV sites.

Remember, the cheap prices are for smaller tent/pop-up site loops-1500 and 2000 with only water, electric and cable.

I don't see any deals on camping, but mousesavers will give you all the info you will ever need and you may be able to save some on tickets

We are Florida resident annual pass holders. If we can get a reservation we like to stay at the fort. Thirty to forty nights a year. I haven't seen any discounts at the campground in years. The local taxes on a camp site are up to around $17 a night, but that applies to camp sites on or off property.

I would love to see them build some new camping loops as it seems to me, each year it is harder to get reservations. They sure have enough land to expand. But obviously not at the top of their priority list. I have been trying to get a week for next Halloween and started checking last October.

But we do, as annual pass holders, get other special offers such as Tables in Paradise, with gives a nice discount at all the eating places and shops.

DW will not tell you if they have any discounts at the Fort. You have to ask and generally they are Florida residents, annual pass holders and AAA. I actually only got lucky with a discount once and that was a premium site for the price of a preferred. We go to the Fort a few times a year and I've never got a discount except for that one time. The advantage we found camping is that we can eat at the site thus not having to tip or pay the taxes on beer and wine. FortFriends is a great website to get additional info.

Fort Wilderness is where we took our teens for a last family vacation before they entered university. That was many years ago and I remember the sticker shock when we pulled in to register. The one nice thing was that after the experience of registering, everything but food was paid for. Although it was very expensive we don't regret that one last family vacation together and there are things to do to suit all ages.

If you stay in an rv park close by, you have the hassle of driving to WDW every day, paying to park, etc. Staying in Ft. Wilderness might give you a discount on admission prices - not sure of that though. Disney raised their prices last week to $105 daily for adults, very slightly less for kids. OUCH!

Keep in mind that supply and demand kicks in on Ft. Wilderness. It's very popular and the prices reflect that.

Options:

• You could spend a couple of nights and then move to a cheaper cg.
• Now that the kids are grown, do you qualify for any senior discounts? If you're a member of AARP they might offer a discount.
