Douthat State Park Va

Need advice. 34 ft 5th wheel with 50 amp.

I visited the website & noticed 3-4 campground areas. Which is the best? Best I mean Level, long with some room and easy to get in and out.I know none have sewer and most only have 30 amp. I have an adapter so 30 amp can work.

It looks like only sites available is in White Oak section for the dates I need.

Thanks.
  • I think site 2 in White Oak is where we are now. Any info on that particular site?
  • I have stayed at Douthat numerous times over the years. I will be going there Sundy after church. Staying in the Wilderness campground. I have a 41 ft. Fifth wheel

With your size trailer it will difficult to get into some of the sites in White Oak. This is a site specific campground also. Just started this year.

If you need additional info your can pm me.
  • If you want to use 50 amp you need to stay at Whispering Pines. Whispering Pines is one of the test campgrounds for site specific reservations. It is newer with long sites that are level.
  • We have not stayed at the park, but did look at the various campground areas. My FW is the same size as yours. Here are our notes from White Oak, narrow bridge into camp, nice sights but hard to maneuver, small distant bathhouse, dump station next to bathhouse. For us personally, this are is a no go. It may be okay for you if you are confident handling your rig. I would call the campground and ask them about the White Oak section for your camper.
Whispering Pines is a new area outside of the park. Sights are large and level some are open, and some treed. New bathhouse and dump station. Easiest of all the campgrounds to get in and out of.
Not too far away is Lake Robertson Recreation Park. I think this is a county park. Roads are gravel and maybe a little narrow. This was our first trip out with the FW so I'm sure my parking abilities were terrible. Bathhouse was older but clean. Had play area for kids in the campground. You can bring your own firewood or buy 8 pieces for $2.00. They also honored the America the Beautiful pass. Dump station is near the bathhouse.
Also the restaurant at Douthat is very good.
