Dunsmuir, Ca

We will be spending two nights in Railroad RV Park. Any must sees for the day? I would guess it would be Mt Shasta.

  • Mostly nature related but plenty to see and do.
Castle Crags State Park, Mount Shasta, Mount Shasta City, Mossbrea Falls, The old company lumber town of McCloud. The drive to Burney Falls State park takes a little time but the park is worth the drive and the scenery is great. Going all the way to Burney Falls you might want to go a little farther towards Shingletown and check out the Subway ice caves. The Falls on the McCloud river are nice but a different place than Burney Falls on Burney Creek.

A beautiful area with lots to see.
    Have fun

Upper, Middle and Lower Burney Falls are neat. There is a guy in town who carves/chain saws wood into various shapes and figure. Pretty good and reasonable prices. He works out of his house so look for an "A" frame sign along the main drag (north end if I recall).

The falls are just past McCloud on the McCloud river. Also...quite a few falls right in Dunsmuir.
  • Shasta still has a good covering of snow as does Lassen. They both offer an amazing view as you're traveling N on I-5; Lassen to the East and Shasta to the North. Enjoy your travels! I've heard that Dunsmuir has some great fishing spots.
