This is particularly good information and from a very trusted source; I have always respected Thom's input as open and honest.
We lived in Estes 1995-2003 and had seen many changes then but they have been hit hard and some of the areas of town still have not recovered but nothing that would affect a visitor. We still have friends there who give us what is REALLY happening and it falls into funding / politics.
Casual friends of ours had a business there, turned it over to the son and it went down. Son got another business downtown and it is not really making it. So he is going to try yet another. (But papa still owns four buildings downtown that stay mostly occupied with business and also came into a couple of million buckos about 15 years ago so none of them are really too concerned.)
We love Rocky but the pine beetle infestation has taken a toll. But still a very beautiful place.
