Skyline drive (Shenandoah National park)/the Blue Ridge Parkway/Great Smoky Mountains national park makes a nice trip with plenty of short or moderate hikes along the way. It does have lovely scenery, particularly along Skyline Drive and the southern section of the parkway and Great Smoky Mountain NP.
