Unpublished cancellation fees is just plain wrong. This year I have had to cancel out 4 reservations, different trips and got charged anywhere from 10.00 to 1 nights fee. Those were all stated in their rules, so cannot complain.
The one trip, my husband ended up in a hospital and could not continue on to destination. Probably have spent $100 in cancellation fees this year. It is going to get where I won't make a reservation at all and take potluck along the way and the destination campground.
