Ely,Nevada

Need advice for camping there. We know there are three, but , any one to avoid? For one night passing thru.
Thanks
  • KOA is the most expensive but just fine for overnight. The prospector is a a dirt lot 1/3 of the price of KOA, the other one I know if is about 4 or 5 miles north of ELY headed towards Magill. I don't remember the name. Its a little cheaper than KOA. I find all three are fine. I have stayed in each one. All are easy to get in and out.
    Cacoon
  • We stayed at Cave Lake State Park just a few miles east of Ely on Hwy.50.
No hookups but a dump station with potable water, most of the sites are good for RVs 30' or less their's a few sites that will take a bigger RV.We stayed overnight going to Co. and on our way back from Co. this last April. This time of the year weekends and holidays it fills up.
  • Prospector works great. $15.00 a nite, free Wi-Fi, you can use the hotel pool, laundry room that is reasonable, and free ice machine. Also a free ticket for a margarita at the hotel bar. The Sin-City News (Las Vegas Review-Journal) comes in about 2 PM. Monday-Saturday and is also free to customers. Park in your site first, then register at hotel lobby.
  • This is from a friend who stayed there last night.......

So, we went down to Prospective Hotel & casino & RV Park for $16.65/night full hook up, free wi-fi, w/2 margaritas free. Margaritas? Sold! Decent place, slot machines, & a decent restaurant, decent prices, & a pool that I don't care about.

We usually dry camp in the Nevada Hotel and Casino RV lot, if we are staying just one night. The best fuel price in town is usually at the Indian truck stop, just north of the US6/US50 intersection.
