I've stayed at Elk Meadows on several occasions in late Sept. early Oct. Decent campground but be aware that at that time of the year they can & will turn off the water at the first sign of a hard freeze. I does get cold up there in late Sept. On the plus side both the campgrounds have excellent access to the park & the town.
