Staying on the west side of RMNP is kinda like staying at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon...........you can say you have been there but you cannot say you have SEEN it.
The last time I made the mistake of going to Estes on a Saturday, the elk were on the golf course. Traffic on the Peak-to-Peak Highway was backed up to Mary's Lake due to people stopping to take photos with their phones. Took an hour to get to the Fall River entrance to RMNP. And that was in September!
