Camp Jellystone in Burleson should be the hands down favorite since kids are included in the equation...and you would look like a hero. (But they also have them in Fredericksburg & Canyon Lake if y'all insist on getting out of DFW.
As a bonus, there is a Babe's Chicken in Burleson....mmmmmmmmmmm, yummy!!
If you want to get out of Texas, you could always consider the Hot Springs area. There are several really nice campgrounds in the area. I am most familiar with Lake Catherine State Park because we stayed there last summer and had a great time, but alot of people have really positive comments about Lake Ouachita, Lake Dardanelle & Petit Jean State Park
