We don't own a boat, but we stayed at Mitchell State park in Cadillac, Mi last summer. You can dock your boat right next to your campsite (if you have one on the canal). There is a canal that connects Cadillac and Mitchell lakes together. Very cool to check out. No idea if it's good for fishing though. SP is right in the middle of town, so keep that in mind.
