Favorite RGV RV park near McAllen TX area?

Which are your favorite places to spend the winter? We are looking for a 55+ place with a pool and activities. What is the beach access like from this area. (To drive to, of course...). Which beaches are best? Parks? We have never been to this area. Is there anything else we need to know about this area? Thanks!

    Closest beaches to RGV will be South Padre Island - about an hour away, maybe further depending just where in the Valley you stay. Our favorite area is Weslaco because it is mid way across the Valley (which really is not a valley). This makes it convenient for going to activities throughout the area.     If you want beaches (google Rockport Beach and Port Aransas Beach), the Rockport, Aransas Pass, or Port Aransas would be your best bet. However, at this time of year finding a RV park that is not already reserved full could be a chore!! There is one SP Goose Island State Park. We are already here on-site in Rockport, feel free to PM us if you have any specific ?'s.
