February too cold for Williamsburg VA?

Kids have a day off in mid February. Was thinking of going to American Heritage rv park for 3 day weekend. Maybe walk around Williamsburg. We are only an hour or so away. Have only lived here for year so not sure if it will be too cold to do anything.

Thanks
  • If the weather is a major concern, why not wait and see what the forecast is? Others here are likely more knowledgeable about American Heritage RV Park, but I'd be a bit surprised if there were many places in the Mid-Atlantic region that you need to book far ahead to have a spot in February.

    HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:E

    You know its true... ;)
  • Went through that area last Feb. Weather was nice one day but within days had snow. It didn't last long. Remember to put down anteanns if they are up in cold wet weather above 32deg and will go below freezing overnight and you need to leave in the am.

  • If you don't like the weather in the DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia area, wait 15 minutes and it will change. February can be in the single digits or the 50's. It can be 30 to 40 degree difference in temperature in a 24 hour time span. There is no way of knowing.

If you are just visiting historic Williamsburg, you can do that in the cold. Just prepare with warmer clothes. The wife and I go to NYC in the winter because the Christmas decorations are beautiful and the smell from Jersey isn't as ripe ;).
  • Depends on what you are used to, having been in this area for only 1 year.

If you spent your entire life in Florida, prior to the move, then it is probable it will be too cold for you to spend much time walking around.

If you came to Virginia from Maine or Minnesota, it will likely be shorts and tee shirt weather.

I have now lived in Virginia for 45 years, and I can tell you that while the average daily high in February in Williamsburg is in the low 40s, I have experienced days in February in the twenties as well as in the 60s. So hang on tight, it could be anything.
  • "Too cold" is a relative term. The answer for me would be a resounding "yes." For you, I have no clue. This might give you some insight though.
