Interesting visual, if I was to guess I would say that the gulf stream is keeping the whole lower eastern seaboard warm and that Alberta clipper at bay. Who knows maybe the melting icecaps will increase the gulf streams effects instead of changing it's course away from the mainland and super winters will be the new norm.
You'll enjoy knowing that it is windy and in the 50's here in lower Texas. Normally winter down here starts about now, but it seem to have arrived early. At this rate it may last longer also. Seems like the temps are 2-4 weeks ahead of schedule.
Our daily walks on the beach, bike rides for breakfast, fishing, cocktail hour, and going out for some super deal suppers are really taking a hit this year. Texas hospitality has yet to change though, it may have even gotten stronger due to the weather here.
