I'd love to know the park's rationale for changing what was a pretty workable system before. Were there riots and brawls breaking out as people competed for sites?
We did the first-come-first served routine on two different Yellowstone trips and saw no issues or problems with it. With this new system I can see all sorts of problems.

Yes there were many conflicts. The Ranger we talked to said it was "like the Indy 500" starting at 6am with people waking up campers to see if they were leaving. There were fistfights over available campsites and the Ranger LEO's were there often. She said it had to change. This is there solution so far. It is flawed but works.
