RE: the dog... keep in mind that you want to also go to Antelope Canyon, Mesa Verde (& I assume taking a ranger tour to get the full history), Slide Rock and probably others along your trip. The dog will be left behind for hours. Plus, being in the car for long traveling days and the hot days. I would think you and your dog would enjoy the trip better if Fido stayed with grandma. :)
