First trip down Trace to Natchez

Been reading and got some good ideas but any other suggestions greatly appreciated. Going down the Natchez Trace to Riverview RV Park. Wife loves Cajun food, any suggestions? Things to see and do? Anything along the Trace that is a must see? If we spend a day driving in Louisiana anything we need to see? If you pick only one plantation home to visit, which one? This will be our longest trip so we are excited. Thanks for your help.

  • Free camping at the Merriwether Lewis memorial which is also the nicest of the three camps. Dry camping with blacktop road and parking spots. Water is available and very clean restrooms. There are various points of interest with good parking along the way. There are pathways down to the river but just like any wooded area be aware of ticks.

If we are not running to late will stop by, thanks.
  • Have just come down the trace in out MH this week. In a bigger RV, take it easy through and right below Tupelo, MS. There has been some road deteriation recently, and the right edge of the road has a few pretty bad cracks and dips. OK in a car, but a wider RV they are a bit harder to avoid. Drive is OK, just be watchful.
