We've stayed part of the winter in Yuma the last several years. Yes the water is hard. Anywhere we go in Utah and Arizona we use a Flow Pur softener with a whole house filter. Been using it for five years. It uses table salt and makes the worst hard water usable for all purposes. Beware that a filter will do nothing for hardness. The cats and dogs drink water softened with the Flow Pur with no issues.
